Neville walked out from the Floo with a heavy sigh. He looked forward to spending a night with Lorcan and a nice dinner. Instead, he had to work on getting the Devil Snare under control. He didn’t think it would take him most of the eveing, but the Devil Snare was stubborn. Neville hung his jacket on the hook and toed his shoes off.
“Lorcan? Are you home, love?” Neville called out. He swallowed when he didn’t hear anything.
“Lor, I’m sorry, let me make it up to you. Tomorrow, I don’t have to go to work. We can spend the whole day together. Lor?” Neville walked into the kitchen. He grinned at the sight before him.
Lorcan fell asleep on his arms, surrounded by notes and books.
Looks like I’m not the only one drowning in work. Neville walked over and kissed his cheek.
Lorcan stirred and looked up at Neville with sleep hazy eyes. “Nev?”
“Hi love. I’m sorry I missed dinner tonight, but the Devil Snare wouldn’t stay under control.” Neville nuzzled his cheek.
Lorcan nuzzled back. “It’s fine. I wasn’t able to cook tonight. Someone from my team lost the notes from before and I had to rewrite them and make another copy just in case they lost them again. Did you get my owl? Did I send one?” He frowned in confusion.
“It’s alright,” Neville kissed his cheek. “I’m sorry I didn’t send one.”
“It’s okay.” Lorcan smiled. “I ordered some take out for us, though. It’s on the counter under a warming charm.”
“Okay, thanks love.” Neville gave him a quick kiss before going to the counter to get some food.
Lorcan sat up and cleaned the area. He moved his books and notes back at the bookcase then returned to the table. Neville sat down next to him and started on his food. Lorcan rested his head in his hand and flashed a sleepy smile.
“So, how was your day?”
“Crappy, but the night is looking up though.”
“Yeah?” Lorcan chuckled.
“Yeah,” Neville grinned and continued to eat his food.
They didn’t have the romantic dinner they planned on, but spending an evening talking with each other was just as nice.
