Summary: James and Harry has a playdate with Lucius and Draco. Lucius can't be that much of a prat, right?

freakingcrups for her birthday!! I love ya bb and hope you had some fun on your special day! She wanted Lucius and James playing with bb!Harry and Draco. So yeah AU and pre-slash of the dad variety because these two are hot! I mean look at their children and grandchildren, but anyway before I start rambling let me post the fic. Enjoy!
“I don’t think I’ve seen so many toys in one room.” James looked around Draco’s nursery in awe. Harry bounced happily at the pile of toys and gripped James’s shirt.
“I wanted to make sure Draco had enough to play with. I don’t think it will be a problem now that he has a playmate.” Lucius walked in with Draco. Draco hid his face when he saw James. He looked up and smiled when he saw Harry.
Harry grinned and waved at Draco as James smiled.
James didn’t expect to be a guest of Malfoy Manor or talk to Lucius Malfoy, but after their sons played with each other in the toy store in Diagon Alley James figured they could meet for a play date. Lucius declined at first; he changed his mind after Draco started to pout.
James told Remus and Sirius about it who had mixed reaction. Remus felt it was good that James started to see someone again. Sirius didn’t like it. He warned James that Lucius wasn’t someone he wanted to be associated with.
James knew Lucius was a prat, he showed that lovely characteristic when they first met, but he looked like he cared about Draco as much as he cared about Harry. He couldn’t be that bad. Besides, Sirius was always apprehensive of someone spending time with Harry without him or Remus. It warmed James to know how much his best mates cared about Harry.
He felt he would fine in the Manor.
James laughed when Harry tugged harder at his shirt and pointed to the ground.
“Alright little Prongs you can go play.” James placed Harry down.
Harry smiled and ran over to a block set.
“Down, father, down!” Draco looked up at Lucius who nodded.
“Alright, but give me your robe.” Lucius placed Draco down and took his robe off. Draco ran over to join Harry and help him build a block tower.
“Harry is going to have a fun time here. It will be hard to pull him away when we have to go home.” James said as he took a seat in a nearby chair.
“Yes, but it will be a while before that happens. We’ll face it when we get there.” Lucius said taking the seat next to him.
“Yeah we will. Don’t you think that’s a bit formal for home?” James gestured to the expensive robe in Lucius’s arms.
“Not at all, Draco has formal robes made when he needs them. These are his robes for home. I take it Harry’s clothes are reserved for play dates.” Lucius said.
“Not really, those are his regular clothes. I normally pick out what fits in his dresser. If something doesn’t fit we give it away.”
“How generous of you.”
“It’s for a good cause and makes room for new clothes. What do you do with Draco’s old ones?”
“The house elves checks Draco’s wardrobe daily. If an outfit doesn’t fit him anymore they know where it should go.”
“Sounds like a good system.”
“Is that sarcasm?”
“Maybe.”
Lucius smirked and turned to watch Harry and Draco make another tower. James sat back against the chair, watched Harry knocked the tower down, and started to rebuild it again.
“It’s good to see Draco’s toys in use.” Lucius said.
“There is a lot. Harry doesn’t have half of these toys although I think his book collection may reach that level one day.” James said.
The corner of Lucius’s lips quirked up. “Really?”
James smiled. “Yeah my friend loves books so Harry has ton of them.”
“Draco has many as well.”
James nodded and opened his mouth to respond when he felt a tiny hand tugging his trousers. He looked at Harry and pulled him in his lap.
“What’s up little guy?”
“Hide and seek daddy! Play with me and Draco!” Harry happily exclaimed as he clapped his hands.
Draco walked over and stood next to Lucius’s leg. He looked up at him while he messed with the corner of his shirt. “Play father?”
“I think we can do that, unless there is something you have to do?” James asked as he placed Harry down. He leaned over and pulled off his shoes.
“No I am free for the rest of the day. If there is something that needs my attention I will be notified.” Lucius said as he undid the laces of his expensive shoes.
“Good and try to keep up.” James smirked.
“I was going to say the same to you.” Lucius smirked back.
James chuckled before he turned to Harry. “Alright little man, you go hide; we’ll close our eyes and count to ten okay?”
“Okay!” Harry said. He grabbed Draco’s hand and ran over to the other side of the playroom.
“Are we really going to close our eyes?” Lucius asked.
“I always keep one open.” James said.
Lucius nodded and started to count aloud with James. When they reached ten they started to move around the room. They looked behind the bookcase and a pile of toys. James moved to the side of the puzzles when he heard giggles behind a pile of stuffed animals. He looked over at Lucius who nodded and walked over with him. James silently counted to three before he dove in the stuffed animal pile and pulled up a giggling Harry.
“Got you!”
“Nuh uh!” Harry happily yelled and kicked his legs.
James laughed and looked over at Lucius who ran behind a laughing Draco. James placed Harry down on the ground who joined Draco in running around the room. James stayed close behind and followed the children with Lucius.
They spent the rest of the afternoon playing with Harry and Draco. James gave a riveting tale in Puppet Theater. Lucius helped Harry and Draco build another block tower. They played another game of hide and seek then chased them around the room again. James found a ball and rolled it to Harry who passed it to Draco who passed it to Lucius.
James participated in games that included running around or lifting the little ones in the air. Lucius participated in block games and puzzles. They played with Harry and Draco until they fell asleep in one of their hiding places during another round of hide and seek.
James picked up Harry and slowly rocked him. “Is there a place where we can put them while they nap?”
“Yes, follow me.” Lucius picked up Draco and walked out the playroom.
James walked out the room and followed Lucius to a bedroom next to the playroom. His eyes widened at the expansive bedroom. He knew one piece of furniture could pay for his flat for years.
“Do try to close your mouth Potter. I don’t want drool on my new rug.” Lucius drawled as he placed Draco in bed.
“I’m not going to drool on your floor don’t worry Malfoy.” James said and placed Harry on the pillow next to Draco. The bed was big enough to hold both of them without one rolling over the edge.
“So, what should we do while they nap?” James asked on their way out the room.
“I’m sure we can find something.” Lucius said as his eyes trailed over James.
James swallowed from the look in his eyes and placed his sweaty hands in his pocket. “Yeah I’m sure we can.”
Lucius’s eyes lingered on James for a while longer before he walked out the room. James felt a shiver pass through him and took a breath to calm down. He peaked in the room and smiled at the way Harry curled closer to Draco. Harry was in the middle of a wonderful play date and found a new friend. Lucius was annoying, but entertaining. Something he hasn’t found since Lily.
James grinned as he walked down the hall.
He couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the day would bring.
